Today after we went to lunch with this handsome guy....
We headed to Chloe's 1st Speech Therapy appointment. We did a very thorough assessment of her communication skills. I told the therapist that Chloe has said a few words (amen, mama, hey, dad, book) clear as day, then never said the word again. Because of that and the many other things we went over, she assessed that Chloe has Apraxia: "The inability to execute a voluntary motor movement despite being able to demonstrate normal muscle function. Apraxia is not related to a lack of understanding or to any kind of physical paralysis but is caused by a problem in the cortex of the brain."
Well, she may not be able to speak verbally, but she speaks volumes with her big smile....
The therapist taught me some exercises and activities to do to help Chloe be able to communicate all the exciting things going on in her brain. Chloe really responded to this therapy, especially the cazoo. She was crazy for the cazoo!!! Oh, and she was a fan of the grape-flavored tongue depressors as well. =)
Then I went on a bike ride while Chloe hung out with her Grammy. When we got home, we were playing with sunglasses, and I realized poor Chloe has come down with it - spring fever, that is. It must be contagious, because I came down with it a few weeks ago. Like mother, like daughter!

I ordered an indoor hammock swing. It's for vestibular sensory input, and I also think it's rather cute. Shhhh, don't tell Chloe, it's for her birthday. Good news: It's actually built for all ages, so Oby and I will be able to swing in it too!
The swing will eventually be going in Chloe's new room, once we finish rennovating it, that is, sometime in the next few months. And yes, the colors go with the color scheme I'm planning on: white with accents of red, teal, yellow, tangerine, and pink. My inspiration for her room comes from these photos:
For your fabric-viewing pleasure, I recommend you head to Contemporary Cloth or J Caroline Creative. But only if you have lots of time to get sucked in. And plan on being inspired as well! After my fabric-parousing, I have plans for drapes, pillows, and many sundresses for Chloe. =)

*sigh* I think it will be absolutely fantastic and bright and cheerful. I'm planning on making most of the bedding and pillows. I've been scanning some fantastic fabric sites tonight. I probably won't be using these fabrics, but they still caught my eye.... aren't they lovely?

Her room will be gorgeous I can just feel it! I've also got spring fever and have been thinking about sewing sun dresses and cannot wait to check those sites, but it will have to wait b/c it is too late to spend hours looking at fabric!
Oh my goodness, her room will be so wonderful! She's going to love that swing and I suspect mom and dad will too!
