Red-Letter Day

Today was a red-letter day for many reasons. It started out being a literal red-letter day, with a University of Utah scrimmage football game....

The men went, and all came back with matching red heads....

and red foreheads....

It was also a noteworthy day because I was surprised with....

these pretty flowers! and....

this delicious cake from Mrs. Backer's Bakery in Salt Lake. This is not just any other cake. This is the most fattening (and hence, most delicious cake) EVER made! Trust me, I had a piece (or two)!

My birthday is not actually for two days, but Oby and Tami wanted to surprise me when I wasn't expecting it. The surprise idea totally worked and I liked it! Thanks you two!!!! Happy early Birthday to me!!!

It's Madness, I Tell Ya!

Today I had plans. I was going to get up early. Get things done. Check off my to do list. Instead I've been sitting around working on my March Madness bracket and blogging. Oby always teases me that I sit around eating bon-bons all day, and usually he is wrong - dead wrong. But today, he would not be far off. The sitting around part, that is. I am watching my carbs, afterall. Except for yesterday and that Mountain Dew. Oh, and the Charleston Chews. Losing weight is madness!

Oby and I both have very competitive natures, so when March Madness rolls around, we get our brackets out and enjoy seeing who gets the most right. I was defeated last year, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to be victorious this year. Let the college basketball games begin!

Speaking of madness, yesterday the latest addition to the Bennett family came into the world. I eagerly went to the hospital to meet the little guy. I didn't forget Chloe. I didn't forget the gift. But I forgot.... the camera! (gasp!) Madness, right? Thank goodness for a camera phone.

Welcome to the world William Philip Norseth!
"Will"

PJ and Papa were bursting with pride!

Henry and Chloe were devastated that they weren't the center of attention, but at least they had each other.

And then there were FIVE!

Congratulations, Pete and Taylor, and good luck with the madness and joy your new addition will bring!

Go Utes!

Now that University of Utah football is over, what will we do?

Easy. There's Utah basketball and Utah gymanstics to be fanatic over! Tonight I went to the gymnastics meet with this crazy crew....

Andi, PJ, Taylor, and Sam

We had a great time singing and dancing....

Y -M-C....

A!

And even though the true University of Utah mascott is a Ute, this hawk keeps turning up at the games (insert eye-roll here).

There were 4 teams at the meet, but Utah was victorious! Woo hoo!

The highlight of the night for me was Nina Kim's floor routine....

And because I know you all really come just to see pictures of Chloe, here ya go....

Hoooray for the weekend!

Sweet Victory

We're fans of.....

Utah Football!!!
They are undefeated this year, and Oby's BFF plays on the team (go #47!!!) So this has been a fun year to be fans! To ring in their Sugar Bowl victory (we KNEW they would win - and of course we were RIGHT!!!) we got together with Oby's siblings at Jamie and Aisha's house. We could have gone to the game with free tickets, but plane fare was ridiculous, plus we really did want to go to the cabin, so.... plan B was fun (te he he, inside joke with Aisha)....
serious fans

cutest cheerleaders EVER!

GO UTAH UTES!!!!

Go Utes!

We won't be able to make it to tonight's game of Utah vs TCU because Chloe has horse therapy. But that doesn't stop us from showing our support and fanaticism!

Coach Bennett

Many of you know, my husband is a volunteer football coach at West High School. He LOVES it, and he is very committed to those boys - they are so lucky to have him! Plus, it allows him to reminisce about his days of playing college ball. Check him out - isn't he a hottie?

I don't even pretend to have the slightest clue about football. I've been asked what position Oby played in college, and I just give a blank stare, and say, "Defense?" as if it were a question rather than a statement. Looking at this picture, though, I would guess he was a tight end, if ya know what I mean. wink wink ;o)

Thanks to this post I learned about wordle.net, where they help you create *FREE* word clouds. I decided to do one as a tribute to Coach Oby. You should check out Wordle, it is cool and very easy. Trust me, if I can figure it out, you're set!

WHS Homecoming

Oby strategizing with West High School's player #23.
Their strategy worked! West won the game against Olympus by one touchdown!

Chloe needs to work on her spirit and peppiness if she ever wants to become a cheerleader!

We bleed CRIMSON!

Not only is Utah football part of what brought Oby and I together, but now Oby's BFF Tatum plays on the Utah football team, so that just increases our fanaticism for the Utes. Check out Tatum's profile.... Player Bio: Tatum Drecksel :: Football. Go #47, and Go Utes!

Like Father, Like Son

Mike and Oby were the official coaches for the West High JV game today, and they won! They had a serious comeback after being down by 14, they ended up winning 24-14! They make quite a pair out there on the field.

Chloe is West High's #1 fan. She also came to wish her Papa a Happy 50th Birthday!

Tami, Chloe and I are the 'Coach Bennett Groupies.' We're serious fans of our football men!

GO WEST!

It's official. I'm a football widow. I actually have been for awhile, but I've been in denial. But tonight was the first game, so there's no denying it now. Oby is a defensive coach at West High School. He loves it, and he's good at it. There's a really dynamic group of kids that attend that school, and I'm glad he gets to influence them. His dad also coaches there, so I think they have fun spending the time together. Chloe and I didn't make it to this week's game, but we will be attending the majority of them. Mostly because it will be one of the few times in the next three months that we'll be able to see Oby!

Go Panthers!
