Tomboy & The Beginning of a BIG Project!

Today I was at my mom's, and I was coming in and out of the house while Mom was playing with Chloe. I think my mom wants her to be a tomboy! First she was dressed up in a baseball cap with a glove and ball....

Then she was playing with a snake....

(don't worry the snake wasn't real).

I was thinking today and realized, oh my heck - it's been a year, I cannot believe it's been that long! Yep, it was almost exactly a year ago that I decided to quit my flexible, good-paying job so I could give Chloe the time she needed for all her therapies. Wow, what a change (details here). But it has been a good year. We sold our house and have been living in my cousin's basement apartment. And now..... time for yet another change....

A home rennovation? Yep!

Let me explain. My parents have been kind and generous enough to give my inheritance early. They have a home next door to theirs that they have been renting out for many years, but now that we're in need of a place, they're giving us the house. That's right, baby-sitters next door!

I know exactly what you're thinking: 'You're parents are giving you a house?'

Yep. That's what I said. And now you might have a better idea of why I spoil Chloe so much.

Spoiled is what I know! =)

Here's how the house looked this morning:

This is how we want it to look when we're finished (minus the gazebo and slightly different colors):

Today we started the project, and there's no turning back. First step: asbestos siding removal. Because it's a dangerous substance, we had to have OSHA-regulated company come to do the proejct....

It was quite a process. They were in masks and suits, there was red tape. It was quite involved....

Tara, I'm so glad you will be so close to your parents! I absolutely love the front porch you have envisioned for the home. I can just imagine sitting out on it on warm summer nights! Hmm... got me remembering all the fun summer sleepovers out on the tramp, and crazy times at girls camp! Looks like you are in for a big, but wonderful project turning a house into home!
