Glad Yesterday is Over

Yesterday was another one of Chloe's studies - an EMG (electromyogram). For this study, she had to be sedated, so she couldn't eat anything all day. When we got to the hospital, she started smacking her lips - code for "I'm hungry!" To distract her from hunger pangs, they gave her this bright yellow crepe paper. It worked!

Then we all went into the surgical room. They allowed me to be there until Chloe fell asleep. They used laughing gas, and it was funny because it truly made Chloe giggle herself to sleep. The room was filled with delirious laughter until she was out. Then I kissed her head, and went to wait. Waiting was the worst - knowing that they were going to be doing a spinal tap (a last-minute decision to get fluid for more testing, since she would be sedated anyway), and the EMG is not a fun procedure either - they put needles in her muscles to see how her body reacts. It doesn't sound pleasant, and apparently it wasn't....

She was cold, sheet-white, and nauseous when I got there. Nothing a snuggle from Mommy and a popsicle won't cure. She was feeling better in no time, but got upset again when they had to check her vital signs one last time....

We were glad to leave this procedure. I was just soooo glad it was over! I think the laughing gas lingered in her system, because she giggled the entire drive home! What a silly girl.

I guess the only up is that she was given laughing gas.
Every time you post pics of her, she looks that much bigger. These kids grow too fast sometimes. Chloe is getting more beautiful as she gets older. Thanks for updating so we know how you and the family are all doing.
Your house looks great, I can't wait for you to post some pics of the inside.
We love you!

I'm so glad she was sedated. EMGs suck--Dakin had to be awake for his and let me tell you, it was one of the worst days of my life.

It's really cute she giggled until she fell asleep. What a doll!!

Chloe has had more tests in her little life than I ever want to have in my existence. She must be so tough!

I'm so sorry Chloe has to endure so many different tests etc. It must be exhausting.

Hey- I wanted you to know that the Whittier Center in Logan has a community playground build that will happen around September 22. It will take 6 days and the playground has a rubber surface and will be mostly accessible. If you can swing it, you should really get up there and do a shift. I think it will help you in your pursuit of Chloe's Sunshine Playground. The playground is called the Adventure Playground. Just thought you'd want to know. I'm planning on doing a shift or two.
