West Yellowstone
Where do I start?.... We just got back from a most superb trip to West Yellowstone, MT. My brother and sister-in-law run the Hibernation Station and were hospitable enough to let us stay there. Having our own personal cabin was nice enough, but then these cabins are a step above a cabin, they're more like super fancy condo-abins! Everyone should go there, seriously, it is fabulous. The road trip there was filled with Oby and I singing, er, shrieking, along to Beatles music. Oby, Chloe and I went with Mike, Tami, Grandpa Phil and Grandma Judy. My cousin Jeff and his girlfriend Allison were also there. It was so good to see them! We rented snowmobiles, everyone but Chloe and I took a snowcoach into the park, we ate and snacked a lot, and even got snowed in! It snowed so much they closed the roads into Utah, so we were cabin-bound. We read our vampire books, watched TV, ate, ate, ate... Hung out with Travis, Katrina and the kids. Oh, and made fun of Grandma Judy of course!... hey she asks for it, losing everything, dancing like an ostrich, going out the wrong door, falling down every chance she gets... she is too funny. Oh, then there was Tami with her obsession of the man in a red truck that she thought was lost because he kept driving past. Um, it was the snow plow! We just had a great time. I didn't even go into the park, but check out the pictures... it honestly feels like you were there! Love it. The road trip home was survivable only with the power of prayer and 4wd. The roads were solid ice, then visibility was only slightly greater than zero due to the wind blowing the fresh powder around. But we made it home fine and over the fear factor already. In fact we're already planning another trip back there because we had such a great time. In the meantime we just hope no one turns up with a case of pink eye. (Inside joke. Don't ask. You don't want to know. But if you do ask, I'm certain Oby will give you some theories.)
