A Monkey, Friends, Sunshine, and Creatures. Oh My!

Remember this post where I told everyone about the "perfect stranger" who offered to give us a monkey stander?....

Well, how quickly strangers can become friends! The Rady's are amazing. They are a cute couple and have three adorable sons....

Their oldest son, Tucker, has Spina Bifida. He had a good run with his monkey stander, but has outgrown it....

We went to their house tonight and gladly took the monkey stander off their hands so Chloe can get some much-needed therapeutic benefit from its use!

Mandy is a blogger also, so we were both all about getting lots of pictures of "The Great Monkey Stander Exchange of 2009."

We cannot thank The Rady's enough. They have given us so much more than just a stander. They have given us hope, joy, happiness and friendship! Thank you! Thank you! We hope this act of charity brings happiness to your lives as well.

Those who bring sunshine into the lives of others, cannot keep it from themselves.

~James M. Barrie

We tried giving The Rady's a financial token of our appreciation, but they would not accept it. They wanted to give us the stander, and asked only that when Chloe no longer needs it, that we will pass it on the way they did.

They told us that they are starting a charity to help fund a new wheelchair for Tucker. His current one is worn out and a bit small. He wants a new chair so he can be a star on the court when he plays basketball with his other friends....

If any of you want to donate to Tucker's wheelchair fund, please visit Mandy Rady here to find out how. And while you're there, be sure to send a thank you as well!

I also want to share this with you....

Creature Discomforts is a series of short videos and commericals developed by the same creators of Wallace and Grommit. Their mission is to change the way people think about and respond to people with disabilities. Here is one of my favorite of their commercials....

I am so glad that you have that stander! I will check out their charity. I am really grateful for the awareness you bring to the blogosphere of those who struggle with physical challenges. It's a benefit to all of us to learn from their determination and triumphs and to develop a greater sensitivity to their situations.

Tara you are soooo great! I can't believe you did this!! THanks for your kind heart!! I am so glad I met you! You are a gift with so many talents! I added the website to our blog that people can go to to donate if they want. I don't know if you want to add it to yours or not but I thought I would let you know! It is at the bottom of my post. Thanks again and good luck with the stander! I have to get that one with Tucker because mine didn't turn out so well! :)

Emma wanted to say, "We were watching Extreme Makeover: Home Edition with a boy who used a stander. It's very cool how bodies are made differnt and I think what the stick-bug (from the Creature Discomforts) said is true."
