Operation: Joy 2009

"A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow." ~Alli Edwards

Tip Junkie suggested an idea to come up with one word that describes what you want for yourself in 2009. My word is joy.

  • I've heard that joy can be an acronym for Jesus first, Others second, Yourself third.
  • I want to have joy in the journey.
  • I want to bring joy to others.
  • I want to remember that joy is something I give myself, not something that is given to me.
  • In 2010, I want to look back at the year 2009 and realize that I decided to make that year a joyful one, and it worked!

What's your word?

What a wonderful word and a great way to describe it. I too am big in power words. Some of my favorites are Strength, Hope, Joy... but my word for the year is going to be Believe. :)

Thanks for sharing Tara!

I love your blog. I love your attitude towards life. I love your word. There couldn't be a more perfect word for what anyone wants to define their year.

Joy is what I want to feel while I am on the journey AND at the end of it.

I'll pick a different word, how about a second-best word, for this year I want progress. I want to have moved somewhere emotionally, spiritually, and in my home and family organization and prepardness. I want this to be movement forward, in a direction that makes it easier to feel joy. When I look back at 2009 I want it to be a year where I can see that my family and I took a step in the right direction and left a little bit less to be done in subsequent years as a result.

That's funny you would post that. I have been thinking Joy is a good word for 2009. I of course copied it from someone else, and at this time I can't remember who.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love yours and Chloe is gorgeous. Your blog is fantastic. As an elementary teacher and former special needs teacher, I love that there are parents willing to share thier stories and make what some percieve as a negative such a fantastic positive. Keep it up girl.
God Bless :)

By the way, I changed my word at about 3 in the morning from enjoy to intentional.

The word I always live by is Believe. It emcompasses it all for me: God, Faith, Hope, Love, etc.
But for this year I have another word PeacefulAttitude, I know it looks kinda funny but since I needed one word I just made it compound!
