The Power of Positive Thinking

Today our cement guy was supposed to pour the back porch. I was so excited! But now the skies are overcast and thunder clouds are looming. If it rains, all cement pouring plans would be off! At first, I was a little bummed. But then when I was getting Chloe dressed I decided to put the power of positive thinking to good use, and picked out an outfit for sunny weather! We'll see if it works....

Also, for those of you who don't follow the kidz blog, do I have news for you! I've been inspired by a newspaper article a friend of mine gave me, and I need all of your positive thoughts sent my way! I'm embarking upon another big project. Read this post for all the details. Basically, I've decided to spearhead the planning and fundraising for an accessible playground to be built in my city. This is HUGE. It would involve getting at least 2 acres donated by the city, and raising at least $800,000. I talked to the city manager today, and he said another citizen has brought this to their attention, and the city council backs up the idea, but the only thing that can do is donate the land - they have no extra funds to give.

Excuse me? Donate land? That's a BIG deal! Woo hoo! =)

We're meeting next Monday so I can go over my ideas and plans of how I'm going to raise the money. I have done loads of research about this, and I have some tricks up my sleeve to make this happen. It won't happen tomorrow or even next year. In fact, I have a goal to have the project completed within 5 years. That sounds like a long time, but it is a realistic goal.

So please send your positive thoughts my way, especially on Monday. I need all the help I can get to convince the city to back me up and get underway to bring fun, socialization and much-needed vestibular therapy to the special kids of my community!

WAHOOO!!!
You are a star. You can do it. This is something big and important. I'm pretty sure the community will back you up. It's a good community. Lots of money; but worth the effort.

Tara that is amazing!! I just got through trying to find an accessible playground in Salt Lake for Tucker toda and googled it and gave up and went to Liberty Park and fed ducks instead. I think that is a great idea! You will bless the lives of so many with your hard work!! You definatly have to keep us up on the word and progress of what is happening!! THat is a great project and I wish you the best of luck!!

That is great. Our town built a s special needs playground a couple years ago...they call it special needs as it has a ramp to go up to the top instead of slides...but would love some other stuff like a wheelchair swing...which they wanted to do, but the insurance wouldnt let them.

Good luck!!!
