A Long-Awaited Day!

Today was our appointment with the geneticist. This day was a long time coming.... it took over a year to get it scheduled! Our meeting with the geneticist was very thorough, going over every little detail of our medical history as well as Chloe's. He told us he didn't believe Chloe's issues are genetic. He did say even if there is some sort of mitochondrial or chromosomal mutation, the chance of recurrence is only 1-5%.

Chloe enjoyed the appointment! She loved hanging out with Mommy and Daddy (and being the center of attention, of course!)....

But she did NOT like having blood work =( ........

It didn't take long for her sweet smile to come back. We buttered her up with hugs, kisses, and by taking her to the butterfly statue outside the children's hospital. This always works!....

We kept trying to make it up to her by letting her hang out with her cousins at Nana's house afterword. Smack dab in the middle of all those boys with Calvin letting her listen to Zip-a-dee-doo-dah on his ipod is pretty much heaven to Chloe!....

We also gave her a piece of her latest favorite treat - slim jim. I tell ya, this girl looooves Slim Jim's! They're tasty and she can hold them and feed herself! It makes her feel like such a big girl. Oh, and Aunt Taylor styled her hair so cute!....

We also let her wear some posh sunglasses....

And go on a walk with Nana!....

Hopefully we made it up to her enough that she'll consent to going to the hospital ever again. Especially since the geneticist ordered several other tests and we'll be going back a lot in the next few weeks! Our plans are to have a sleep study, a follow-up Brain MRI, a spinal MRI, and an EMG. I'll have to keep lots of Slim Jim's on hand! ;o)

nana looks like she's in her 20s!

and chloe's hair is adorable! and how funny she's hooked on the slim jims!

i hate having to take my girls to have tests done.

my oldest had to have blood work done so frequently when she was younger that i took a phlebotomy class so i could so it myself.

i'd do it at home where she was much more comfy, and then just take the vials to the lab.

i hope you'll keep us updated!

She's such a trooper! I'm glad you got good news from the geneticist.

Phew! Sounds like some good news about her genetics, but the future tests are a bummer. Matt's genetic stats are about the same as Chloe's--possible, but not probable.

I can't believe how grown she's getting. For some reason, in these pics she looks like she's losing her baby look. Ah, why do babies have to grow up?

Chloe looks so comfy in her new wheels, too. So glad things are going so well!! Loves!!!

She's beautiful! The photo of the blood work touched my heart. I hate it when my baby has to have stuff like that done!

Sounds like you had a good apt. Chloe looks so cute in her new wheels! Not sure if you have Aldi's stores near you. They sell slim jim type meat sticks for a lot cheaper than slim jims. We love them in our house!!

Your little girl is a doll. I definitely like her new wheels. Good luck with all the testing. Kids and needles just don't mix.

I have to tell you that you are a standard for me. I am so touched at how happy you are and how you always see the blessing in your situations. I think of you often when I am about to have a negative attitude. Thanks for being a public example to us. I have been forever touched and blessed by your life and testimony.
