Gerty is a Mama!

So I don't know if you remember, but we have a goat.

That I have a goat causes me to laugh almost every single day.

I NEVER thought I would have a goat, of all things! But we had to get some sort of agricultural animal in order to keep our rights, and we do want to get a horse someday. In the meantime, a goat helped us keep our rights and is a lot cheaper, not to mention easier, to maintain. So Gertrude (aka Gerty) adorns our backyard....

So since we got her, she has seemed to get a little bigger around the middle. Not that I'm one to judge, but I did notice the weight gain. We kept wondering if she might be prego, but weren't sure. Tonight, she erased all doubt....

Isn't the baby just so cute? I just wanted to pick it up and cuddle it, but Gerty has those sharp horns, and wouldn't let me anywhere near the little baby..... just close enough to snap a few pictures. Of course we took blankets out to the barn, but Gerty and baby were in the dirt.... they like to be au la naturale, I guess.

I couldn't help but be a tad jealous that little Gerty Jr. was up and walking within the first hour of birth. Maybe I should take Chloe out and get some pointers? Actually, Chloe met a pretty dramatic "inchstone" today during her ABM therapy, and showed off for Grammy and Papa later. More on that later.

So here's the big question. What should we name Gerty's little bundle? I love Gerty's name and want to stick with the "G" theme. We don't know if it's a little boy or girl yet, but in the meantime I'm up for suggestions.

So far I can only think of girl names.... Gilda, Greta, Gwyneth.... Leave a comment and let me know if you have any ideas!

Congrats Gerty!

That is soooo cute! I love goats but did have to chuckle at the thought of you owning one... and now two! How fun! I love the Grizwld family Christmas so if it's a boy, Grizwald or Grizzy or the Griz for short is my vote. I also like the name Glinda from The Wizard of OZ but that seems a little too clean and neat for a goat.

That is so exciting and that goat is too cute! Let us know what you decide to name him or her. And sorry I don't have any names to help with the process, my mind is blank.

Ok, looks like you need help with boy names.

Gomer
Gordon
Gilbert
Grover

I guess that's all I got for goat names.

Gloria. Grace is definitely not appropriate for a goat.
Grogan. I know it's a surname; but don't you just start singing "Bill Grogan's Goat" every time you look at your little Nanny?
I think that wee baby goat is adorable and precious and cute and sweet.
My cousins had three, named Toro, Snapper, and Troy-bilt.

Have to agree with Marie on Grizzy, though. That's too cute.

Oh, and I adore the scrapbook page. Don't goats say "Maaa" though? What does your goat say? I remember once I asked a guy from Russia what goats say in Russia. His reply? Goats don't talk!

This is too funny. How long do Goats carry their babies anyway?

I love Gweneth ( is that how you spell it?) I don't know a boys name. How about Gino. No.

I also am glad you had fun at the Circus. Chloe is a cutie as usual!
