I totally stole this name badge idea from Adaptations4kidz via Living With Faith. This is a name badge for Chloe to wear while she's out 'n about. She's such a little social butterfly, but since she doesn't talk, it makes it hard for people to approach her. I think this will help!....
I'm going to have this laminated and put in one of those zip cords because, let's be honest, Chloe is obsessed with those things, so it will also be a toy for her to play with! Two birds, one stone -- love it!
I also made some emergency cards with her medical information and prescription list (which is getting shorter by the day). This will be on the back of her name badge, just in case there is ever an emergency -- heaven forbid, but ya gotta prepare for the worst, right?!?!
I stole my next idea for Chloe from our friends Ali & Brayden also via adaptations4kidz (the author, Heidi, of that blog, is truly one of my heros, she is simply amazing!) A space blanket has been ordered from ebay for less than $3, and I have no doubt it will be a hit with Chloe!....
It is crinkly and shiny, two of Chloe's absolute favorite things! I wish I liked crinkly and shiny things instead of buttery and chocolaty things. Life would be a whole lot better. But that's for another post.
The next idea I stole was again from adaptations4kidz. I'm in the process of making Chloe a weighted blanket with some adorable fabric and poly pellets!....
Oh, who am I kidding? I am not making the blanket. I'm supervising and socializing with my cousin, Marianne, while SHE makes it! I could do it, but she can do it better, so that's what we decided to go with! I can't wait to show you the finished product, it is so dang cute, and don't you think be wrapped in a nice heavy (and cute!) blankie would just feel delicious!?!? I do!
The main point of my post is this.
If you have something in your life that is hard, reach out to other people who are dealing with similar circumstances. They will help you. Maybe you can help them too.
That is one of the main lessons I'm grateful to have learned by being a special needs mom.
Someone I recently met who just found out her son has Cerebral Palsy, seizures and developmental delays asked for advice. That was what I told her..... reach out to others and be there for them. There is so much strength and joy {and ideas to steal!} from the friendships I have made with other moms who really understand my situation with Chloe -- the good, the bad and the ugly. You know who you are. Thank you!

I think you are right. People have a hard time reaching out so it can be difficult to know who is going through what you are sometimes. Some trials are completely obvious whereas others are not.
I love love love the nametag idea!
That little name tag is such a cool idea, Tara! I would have stolen it too ;). I can't wait to see the blanket when it's finished :)
Heidi's totally my hero too - she does AMAZING things for that cute boy of hers. :) Aren't we lucky to have such good people in our lives? I count YOU as one of my favorites...you are very inspirational in your passion for Chloe and other special needs children so THANK YOU! xoxo
i gotta have some of those tags. those are fantastic! betsy's into belts {she's over the baggies} these days. to hold, to twirl, to wrap around her hands. of course, we do not let this item get played with without supervision. yikes! these gals are too funny!
Stealing ideas is a blessing on both ends of the spectrum. Tell us how the ideas end up.
Oh I love that name badge idea!
The name badge is adorable!! What a fabulous idea!! :)
CUTE badge! (even cuter is Chloe)Nice job!
Again. WHY didn't we think of those things ourselves? I love all of the ideas. The name tag the most though. I think it will help people who just don't know what to do when they look at Chloe. And Chloe will LOVE it. She loves so much when people talk to her. YAY.
I would have stolen those ideas to.
Chloe's tag will be so cute & it's such a great idea.
I was wondering since you were such a great help with song ideas for my boys video if you would help me again.
You seem to know a gagillion songs.
I am making a dvd for my YW for New Beginnings & I need a couple more songs.
Any suggestions would be great. I would like to keep them on the gospel end though.
Please help me any suggestions even if you think I've already thought of them.
Thank you so much in advance!!!
