My Sunshine in Holland

Happy 5th Birthday to my beautiful Chloe Gayle! It never ceases to amaze me how a child who cannot speak can offer profound wisdom through the light that dances in her eyes, how hands that have no control can touch people's souls, and how legs and feet that don't work can travel such an incredible journey.

The life of a specialneeds parent is often compared to a traveler spending their life planning a trip to Italy and when the time comes, unexpectedly landing in Holland (see 'Welcome to Holland' by Emily Perl Kingsley). Over time, although the parent still mourns their journey to Italy, they come to love and appreciate all the lovely things in Holland.... Living this unexpected journey, I have come to realize that Holland could not be appreciated if the sun did not shine on all those lovely things. Chloe is my sunshine in Holland. She provides the warmth and the light for me to see and enjoy all the goodness and beauty. I am better because of her.

Any ideas what her birthday theme is this year? You only get one guess! ;)

Since our weekdays are crazy with work and school, etc., etc., the party is this Saturday. Can't wait!

I loved watching the video. I was so inspiring to see how the light in her eyes hasn't diminished in the slightest over the years, in fact it grows brighter with each year. Happy birthday Chloe!
