Fashion Forward vs Fashion Backward

I saw this post on fashion opinions/trends and found it hilarious, so I thought I'd do my take on the subject.

Let me preface by saying I know I am no expert on the matter of fashion. The most education I've had on the subject was received only while watching Sex and the City, Project Runway and my own meandering experience of people watching. BUT - I do have opinions, and here they are.

Wrong, just wrong:

Tightly-rolled, peg-legged jeans.

Obnoxious holiday sweater vests.

Stirrup pants? Oh my.

Low-ridin pants for women....

and for men.

Hypercolor clothing. No on so many levels.

Spandex. And neon spandex at that.

The dickie. There are no words.

Acid wash denim. And fringe. And winged-hair. Poor girl.

Banana clips, really?

Jelly shoes.

Uggs. Not so bad when worn for appropriate weather. Why, oh why do you need Uggs when it's hot outside? Why????

But if money were no object....

The headband. Love it! I get mine at Etsy: The Orange Plum.

Maxi Dresses. Throw a white tee underneath, and voila!

Aviators are always fab. 'Talk to me Goose!'

Swing coats. They always class up an outfit.

Well, I don't own one, but that's what I hear.

Oversized chunky rings.

Wide leg pants look good on everyone!

Oh locket, you had me at Annie. I love the vinitage flair of a locket. So lovely, so personal, and it will inevitably become an heirloom.

The always-flattering empire waist dress.

Charm bracelets. Some of you may think this belongs in the other category, but I think they are simply fabulous!

Okay, there, I vented. I just had to get it out! Do any of you have opinions on fashion faux-pas', trends, etc? I'm dying to know what you think!

I agree with all your Don'ts. I love the headbands, and I am going to have to buy me some of those! I'm personally not a fan of the aviator, but just because they look stupid on me, and I don't really care either way about charm bracelets. I feel so out of touch with fashion right now since all I wear is anything I can get over my huge belly which is limiting and mostly not cute. I almost wore overalls to work yesterday, now that is sad.

Looks to me like you have issues with the 80"s! I'm offended most of my life I looked like that. ;) I love all of your do's especially the head band and dresses!

Hey I love your do and don't, I would like to add wearing socks with sandals as a definable don't! Why does anyone think that is a good idea?

I so don't understand stirrup pants, but I do recall a time in the 80s when my one pair of stirrup pants was the most cherished thing I owned and I think I even named them, they were so dear. Like, GAG me with a SPOON!

LOL... well, I hate to admit it but I am ancient enough to remember the stirrup pants... And the wide leg pants were SO in when I was finishing up high school! Those I did LOVE..
