Inaugural Favs

I watched the inauguration on DVR tonight. I liked it, and wanted to share a few of my favorite parts....

Malia and Sasha's coats - so posh!

The place looked fab!

The secret service agents always look sharp!

George Sr. and Barbara Bush in their purple scarves
(not red or blue, but a mix of the two colors, to symbolize neutrality)
A great symbol of respect for the new President

Yo-Yo Ma quartet's performance of
"Air and Simple Gifts" brought tears to my eyes
(I'm nerdy like that)

Aretha's performance was awesome, of course,
...but that hat!... I love it!

Abraham Lincoln's Inaugural Bible.... Timeless.

"All are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness." ~Barack Obama

"In the complex arena of human relations, help us to make choices on the side of love, not hate; on the side of inclusion, not exclusion; tolerance, not intolerance." ~Joseph Lowery

And I have to give props to my bloggy pal, EM. I loved this post of hers. Go check it out!

Wow - you covered all of them for me.

The purple scarves - I missed the red/blue symbolism. Very nice. And classy.

And the girl's coats - adorable! I heard rumor they were J. Crew. I need to have Hubs look into a little stock purchase tomorrow.

Thanks for this lovely post!!

You definitely picked the best parts!!!!!!!!! I loved the way you summed it up.

Obama sure moves the people with his speeches.

Emma told me she liked Obama's speech and the old guy and the poet-lady. Not too bad for a seven-year-old.

BTW, I totally had a dream last night that you and Chloe surprised me with a visit. It was a happy dream :)

The purple scarves were great. I missed the actual speech, will have to see if I can find it on YouTube.

I thought the scarves were awesome too! I did NOT however like Michelle Obamas attire! She looked like big bird! She's too nice looking to be in something like that!

I know I already commented, but I just keep thinking how truly great that hat is. So I had to say so just in case I already didn't. And if I did, it's a great enough hat to say so again. :)
