Flashback Friday: Winter Olympics 2002

Today's flashback was inspired by the Olympics that are going on right now. As I watch them, I feel all nostalgic, remembering how much fun it was when Salt Lake was the host city for the games in 2002!

I loved the theme that year....

The city looked beautiful all lit up....

We couldn't get tickets to the opening or closing ceremonies, but I went with friends nearby the stadium to hear what we could and watch the fireworks. It was amazing....

One of my friends was a volunteer and gave me tickets to several outdoor concerts. I went to Natalie Imbruglia, a Japanese artist that I don't remember the name, and my favorite -- Dave Matthews!....

I went to a hockey game and the Nordic Combined. I didn't take many pictures, but I saved the ticket stub? My, how I have changed!....

It was an awesome experience. It wasn't long after 9-11, which made it that much more inspiring to be surrounded by people from all countries and to be in peace. Of course we were all united by our love of Dave Matthews, but there was a little more to it than that!

To be honest, though.... I love the Olympics, I really do, but I miss my regular TV shows. Is that terrible to admit, or what?!?

First - I love the new header look :-) Very happy and makes me think of warmer weather....

It's amazing that you were able to attend the Olympics! I bet it was such a great experience that you will talk about for years to come. I'm enjoying watching the Olympics this year, but I too miss my regular shows. That is, if they didn't do too many reruns!

We missed the SLC Olympics. Not only because we were at school in CO, but because we didn't have cable to watch it on. We did get to watch the torch as it went right through our town and we have bald Emma and bald Josh pics. I might have to post those. So, our only experience was the torch, which was still way cool. I think I'm beginning to ramble.

Anyway, I miss my shows too, so we can be bad together--wouldn't be the first time. And I have to admit too that I have more of a fascination with the Summer O's rather than the Winter O's. I think it's about time I stopped talking now.

I only watch gymnastics - I use to watch the ice skating in the Winter Olympics but not so much anymore... I'm glad that you enjoyed them though :)

You have been given a reward which can be found on my blog. Doesn't matter if you post the awards, give them back out, or not... at least you know you were thought of and appreciated today :)

I sort of remember when the olympics came to Salt Lake. Mainly, I remember that years before they redid all the freeways in order to be ready for the Olympics.

If the Olympics are on TV somewhere I might watch them, but we never turn on the tv around here.

However, I do remember the torch when it came through Boise on its way to the Olympics, and I remember as a child when it was run through my city on its way to the Olympics (must have been in LA or something) way back in the 80s sometime. I thought that was exciting both times.
