Could it Be?

For most of my life, when I thought of what I would be like as a mother, I envisioned myself being the typical "soccer mom" type.

Well, so far, my reality as a mother has been anything but typical.

Recently, though, I've wondered.... Could it be? Instead of running Chloe from doctor's appointment to therapy and holding her every second of the day.... Could it be that I could one day be running her from activity to activity and watch from the sidelines?

A few people have recently made me believe that might be the case.

I've mentioned before that Chloe dances in my dreams. Well I got an email recently from a fellow special needs mom letting me know that Dance Image Studios near my home is going to be starting a dance class just for kiddos like Chloe!....

I've heard it called dance therapy and adaptive dance. Call it whatever you want, I think Chloe will just love it! And did I mention it's free? That's right, they're not charging for the weekly class that will have one-on-one instructors for each of the students.

Amazing.

It starts in August and I will be counting down the days!

If the kids on Glee can do it, then so can Chloe!....

I also met some amazing soccer coaches recently. They told me about a special AYSO program called VIP. You can find out all about it HERE.

Chloe can't start until she's 4, but that's next year! When I was talking to the coaches about it, Chloe was with us in her wheelchair. They were explaining that someone would push her and she would be able to kick the ball herself. Just listening to us talking about it, Chloe started kicking and kicking. I'm pretty sure she'll be the star player! AND how cute will she look in the uniform!!!.....

I'm learning more and more that dreams really can come true! Chloe will dance. I'll be a soccer mom. Anything is possible!

WOW, so exciting!!! I am thankful for the people who put on programs like that and that the dance one is free. Whenever people talk about the wickedness and sad things in the world we need to remember all the good people do every day. I am so excited for you and Chloe. It will be AWESOME!

Yeah, Chloe! Recently, my daughter checked out a book that was about a ballet class that sounds similar and it featured some of the little ballerinas. It looks wonderful- so happy for her.

Yeah!! You are such an amazing mom - you accomplish so much more than most moms ever will for their children. Chloe has so many amazing opportunities because you are her amazing advocate. I might come up for the launch party. And the dance and soccer classes sound great. Go Chloe!

I just found your blog through Bird on the Street. I am so happy you found such wonderful classes for your daughter! I am an intensive special education teacher, and I love hearing about kids like yours who get the opportunity to do as many "typical" kid things as possible. :)

I don't know if you have looked into it or not, but you might have a Challenger Baseball in your area - I believe they are very much like the soccer program you mentioned.

I need to check for that type of soccer around here...we are planning on power soccer but there's no teams in our immediate vicinity. This would be great too!!!

Hi! Found your blog through Bird on the Street and coincidentally live in SLC! I already love Chloe! My 2.5 year-old son also has the soul of a dancer :) and I think it would be great to find something like the Dance Image program for him when he gets a bit older. We'd love to cheer for Chloe at a soccer game too when she gets to that. :) I am subscribing to your blog! Warmest wishes!
