Congrats on your SITS day! Chloe is adorable. I have a cousin who was born with spina bifida and he was in therapeutic horseback riding growing up. He loved it and it was so great for him to be able to do something that he considered "normal." Now he is a fan of skiing and handcycling.
My husband's cousin and his wife have a special needs son. Carrie (the wife) has a blog at www.braydenandmommy.blogspot.com where she journals about being mom to a "special needs" (she struggles with that term.) Anyways, a lot of the thoughts you wrote echoed ones that she has expressed and so I thought I would let you know in case you ever want to stop by and check it out.

Love "dear nosy onlooker" I feel like that so much myself..."But as out of line as I think you are, 95% of the time, I will smile and nod and explain politely that my daughter has special needs. " That is me! Not the nosy onlooker...the one that just smiles most of the time and explains away! This was a good reminder to myself when my daughter goes back to school this week as we will be out much more again.
